Project Brief:

Explore a way to connect a digital prototype with a physical object using Origami Studio.

I wrote an article on UXDesign.cc showing how designers could use some really affordable tools to prototype user experiences that involve both digital and physical components.

Step 1:

I used Origami Studio to build a simple color picker that utilizes the built-in Network Request patch.

Step 2:

This was then configured to speak to an IoT-enabled micro-controller.

For this example, I used a Particle Photon since they have an out-of-the-box solution to receive and send messages over the internet.

Step 3:

Test it out and see if it works.
