Why does login matter?
Increase utilization of login functionality by surgeons on da Vinci systems to provide surgeons with valuable case metrics and insights through different digital applications.
What is the da Vinci Surgical System?
The da Vinci Xi and da Vinci 5 Surgical System is a robotic surgical system designed to facilitate minimally invasive surgery. It is commonly used for prostatectomies, hysterectomies, and a myriad of other urologic, gynecologic, and general surgical procedures.
The system consists of a surgeon's console, a vision cart, and a patient-side cart with four interactive robotic arms. The surgeon uses the console's controls to precisely maneuver a stereoscopic camera and instruments installed on the robotic arms.
I utilized a guided wizard flow which helps surgeons see their progress throughout the login workflow. This also allows surgeons to pick which steps they would like to skip, to start the procedure quickly.
I explore many different layouts, out of which a tabbed navigation in a sidebar allowed for scalability if new steps are added in future releases and maximum utilization of the Console touchpad for content within each step of the login flow.
Exception Handling
I also had to consider exceptions related to an interruption in network connectivity, unauthorized users, incorrect PIN entries, and temporary PIN.
Key Product Requirements:
Surgeons should be able to apply their saved ergonomic adjustments.
Surgeons should be able to apply their saved energy settings.
Surgeons should be able to skip login and authenticate at any point in the procedure.
Surgeons should be able to select their procedure type.
Surgeons should be able to see a list of recently performed procedure types.
